  Qualification

  The candidate should possess a PhD with doctoral research performed in one of the following areas – materials science and engineering, solid state physics, solid state/structural/inorganic chemistry, applied mathematics, mechanical engineering or chemical engineering. Candidates who have defended their thesis are also eligible to apply. PhD degree holders are eligible to apply within five years after completion of their PhD. Candidates completed PhD supervised/cosupervised by faculty members from IIT Ropar can apply after 3 years of completion of their PhD.

  Responsibilities

  The selected candidate will be part of an inter-disciplinary team of researchers including experimentalists and theorists and is expected to work primarily on the project titled “Phase Selection in Multi-Principal Element Alloys”. The IDEAs research group has strong intra-group collaborations as well as external collaborations in the area of high temperature materials and MPEAs. The group is primarily interested in theoretical and experimental studies on phase selection, magnetic properties, processing, micro-structural evolution and oxidation behavior of MPEAs.

  Responsibilities

  DEBEL is involved with design and development of various life-support systems and biomedical devices for soldier’s lifesaving and augmentation. Augmentative exoskeletons are expected to improve the operational efficiency of the soldiers. Exoskeleton design and development encounter many challenges, including ergonomically acceptable wearing technology, architecture design, human-motion compatibility, humanrobot interaction etc. To emulate natural human motion along with the exoskeleton, it is important to have a kinematic model to understand the requisite configuration for a given task of the human coupled with exoskeleton. The research work will focus at the development of a generic kinematic model of human coupled exoskeleton system which could be divided into two phases. The first phase involves task-based kinematic modelling and workspace analysis for different architectures of exoskeleton configurations and to identify well-conditioned zones for working. The second phase consists of development of a task-based configuration selection and optimal dimensional synthesis with comparative analysis, in general. Programming skills, mechanisms modelling and learning and utilization of professional softwares are inherent job requirements.
